Seikoh Giken enhances product line with planar lightwave circuit-based splitters

9 April 2003 Norcross, GA Lightwave--Seikoh Giken is launching its first high performance splitter product group. The splitter technology uses a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) chip with a patented manufacturing process to offer excellent optical performance. Vertically integrated fiber arrays are aligned inside of a compact package.

These high performance splitters, which have passed Telcordia GR-1221 and GR-1209 tests, offer low insertion loss and polarization dependent loss while maintaining uniformity across all outputs. These devices are available configured as 4, 8, 16, or 32 channels and can be terminated with a variety of connectors.

The splitter product line joins the company's polishing equipment and interconnect products as well as its new direct coupling products, including lensed fibers, hermetically sealed ferrules, metalized fibers, and anti-reflective coating technologies.
