Tsunami debuts CWDM modules

10 April 2003 Mountain View, CA Lightwave -- Tsunami, a supplier of CWDM modules for metro and access communications networks, introduced a Mini-MetroChannel series of CWDM optical add/drop modules and 18-channel CWDM multiplexers and demultiplexers.

The CWDM modules operate independent of data rate and protocol with uncooled lasers (lasers without thermoelectric coolers) having wavelengths spaced 20 nm apart. The 18-channel multiplexers and demultiplexers respectively multiplex and demultiplex all 18 wavelengths from 1270 nm to 1610 nm on the CWDM wavelength grid specified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) per ITU-Telecommunication recommendation G694.2. The CWDM optical add/drop modules measure 45x30x7.5 mm and are available in models that add/drop up to 4 ITU wavelengths.

Tsunami, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stratos Lightwave, offers a complete line of passive CWDM modules. Custom CWDM modules are also available. All of Tsunami's products are qualified to meet or exceed applicable industry standards including Telcordia, according to the company.
