Tellabs and TeliaSonera Finland to develop next-gen solutions

17 June 2003 Espoo/Helsinki, Finland--Tellabs and TeliaSonera Finland are working together to develop a new next-generation platform.

The partners say that their cooperation should ensures that the platform's architecture is optimised to meet the needs of advanced service providers such as TeliaSonera Finland, including support for next-generation services such as Virtual Private Networks, rapid provisioning of new services, improved operational efficiency and a long lifecycle.

In the 1990s both Telia and Sonera, which merged in December 2002 to form TeliaSonera, contributed to the development of the Tellabs 8100(r) managed access solution. In TeliaSonera Finland, the Tellabs 8100 system has been successfully used the in company's FastNet and DataNet services. The Tellabs 8100 system is manufactured at Tellabs' Espoo facility and is currently in use in more than 250 networks worldwide.

TeliaSonera Finland (Sonera Corporation), the Finnish profit centre of TeliaSonera, offers products and services under the Sonera brand.
