Force intros 3.0-GHz L-Band RF/optical satcom link

August 20, 2004 Christiansburg, VA -- Force, Inc. now offers an enhanced L-Band satellite communications link that extends the frequency from 850 MHz up to 3.0 GHz to accommodate additional transponders coinciding with common European satellite communication applications. The Model 3030-EF and Model 3035-EF 3.0 GHz Transport Links are designed for medium-distance applications up to 12 km. Force's L-Band Satellite Transport Links are applicable to antenna-to-control room or intra-facility links (IFLs). The Model 3030-EF offers 1310-nm, 50-Ohm operation while the Model 3035-EF offers 1310-nm, 75-Ohm operation.

Based on the 3000 series, both transport systems fit Force's 3RU rack chassis, Model 3000C, for a cost-effective, high performance L-Band transport link. Stand-alone transmitter/receiver configurations are also available in the extended frequency range option.

Product Features Include:

  • 850-MHz to 3.0-GHz RF/optical transport
  • Receiver manual gain control optimizing RF performance
  • Easy-to-read status LED indicators
  • Rack-mount and standalone.

The Models 3030-EF and 3035-EF incorporate a manual gain control on the receiver front panel, which allows the user to optimize the RF gain for superior performance. The links transport in the frequency range of 850-3000 MHz over one singlemode optical fiber for distances of 12 km. "Optical Present" and "Power" indicator LEDs on the front panels allow for a quick assessment of the link's operational status.

In the 3RU configuration, the Model 3000 chassis will accommodate eight transmitters and/or receivers as well as redundant power supplies to ensure system reliability.
