FONS rolls out comprehensive FTTP platform

February 17, 2005 Marlboro, MA -- Fiber Optic Network Solutions Corp. (FONS), a provider of optical connectivity products, has introduced its Pathways platform, a line of passive optical network (PON) products and components that according to the company will enable end-to-end connectivity for fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks, to include fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), fiber-to-the-business (FTTB), and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) applications.

According to a press release, products comprising the new platform include:

* A complete portfolio of fiber management products for cabling and connecting between network transmission equipment and an outside plant at a central office/head end. The company's central office/head end line includes high density fiber distributing frames, termination patch panels and splice shelves, high performance cable assemblies, WDM and optical component modules and shelves, and entrance splice enclosures.

* A comprehensive system of environmentally-hardened outside plant (OSP) products including drop cables, drop terminals, and MDU terminals, designed to speed the deployment of fiber in feeder and distribution cabling plants.

* A suite of products with environmentally protective enclosures, supporting both low- and high-fiber count applications, especially designed to provide high-performance interconnection of fiber cables and equipment at the customer premises and in MDUs.

"FONS is very pleased to be a part of the next generation access network evolution," remarks Mike Noonan, president and CEO of FONS.  "Our innovative Pathways solution allows our customers to install and connect FTTP networks fast, economically, and with the greatest reliability to deliver leading-edge triple play services (voice, video, and data) over one platform."

Noonan adds, "Our customers have been deploying our Pathways products successfully for over a year now, with demand for these products growing exponentially as our customers continue to expand their networks and broaden their deployment reach. It is very exciting to play such an important role in the growth and deployment of FTTP networks serving all market segments from regional Bell operating companies and rural independent telephone companies to municipalities and public utilities."
