OE Solutions rolls out bi-directional SFP transceiver for EFM

March 8, 2005 Santa Ana, CA -- OE Solutions, a global supplier of optoelectronic transceivers for optical communications, has introduced its bi-directional SFP Transceiver for point-to-point FTTP applications. The company's OBT12SLX product family addresses the IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Standard, supporting 1000Base-BX10-U for 10-km upstream applications over a single strand of singlemode fiber.

According to the company, the transceivers conform to the SFP multi-source agreement and feature a 1310-nm Fabry Perot laser and PIN receiver, while supporting a standard temperature range of -5 to +75 degrees Celsius, or an extended temperature range of -10 to +85 degrees Celsius.

"This bi-directional SFP will allow system OEMs to immediately and cost-effectively add single fiber capabilities to their systems by utilizing existing SFP slots," contends YK Park, president and CEO of OE Solutions.

The products are on display at this week's OFC/NFOEC conference, in the company's booth 1665.
