TelCove plans fiber-optic network expansion in Newark, NJ

July 7, 2005 Pittsburgh, PA -- TelCove, a provider of business critical telecommunications services to enterprise customers and carriers, has announced plans for a significant build-out of its fiber-optic network in the city of Newark, New Jersey. The company says the expansion coincides with Newark's emergence as a major business hub on the Eastern seaboard.

The company says the fiber deployment, as well as its investment in telecom equipment and people to serve the Newark market, is part of its aggressive growth strategy for New Jersey. According to a press release, with over 20,000 miles of fiber across the Eastern seaboard, the company currently supports 650 fiber miles and serves over 100 "on-net" buildings in central New Jersey.

"TelCove's SONET ring build-out into the central and east wards of [Newark] further demonstrates the rebirth of downtown Newark, while also providing the core telecom infrastructure that developers, enterprises, and government organizations require," remarks Danny Hill, CIO for the city of Newark.

"Through this network expansion, TelCove will offer enhanced enterprise and wholesale carrier services to organizations and enterprises throughout the city of Newark," adds Rob Sienrukos, general manager of TelCove's New Jersey market. "These TelCove services include disaster recovery/business continuity solutions and high-capacity data connections via Ethernet."

In a related development, on July 1, 2005, TelCove announced an expansion of its Eastern seaboard footprint with the acquisition of select assets and markets from New Jersey-based KMC Telecom.
