Atrica selects Xelerated's network processor for Carrier Ethernet products

July 13, 2005 Santa Clara, CA -- Xelerated today announced that its Xelerator X11 network processor has been selected by Atrica for use in next-generation Carrier Ethernet products designed to support carrier-class networks. According to Atrica, the X11's 20G full-duplex throughput gives their products one of the highest Ethernet port densities among programmable Ethernet products on the market. The company says the platform-wide decision to employ the processor enables them to follow emerging standards without compromising performance or disrupting traffic during updates.

"The X11 is the only network processor that meets our strict scalability, availability, and manageability requirements, while still delivering the cost-performance benefits of Ethernet," affirms Yoav Kluger, CTO of Atrica. "Its focused architecture provides the flexibility we need, while eliminating the costs associated with unnecessary complexity."

Xelerated says its X11 network processor's highly focused, data flow architecture provides the flexibility necessary to track changing standards while meeting the different requirements of multiple geographies.

"Our network processors have been selected for over 15 customer designs, based on their superior carrier-class features and price/performance advantages," remarks Thomas Eklund, vice president of business development and EMEA sales at Xelerated.

"Infonetics expects the Carrier Ethernet equipment [market] to reach $2.7 billion in 2008, as operators become more focused on selling and marketing Ethernet-based services," concludes Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "Winning Atrica as a customer is a major proof-point of the strength of Xelerated's Carrier Ethernet solutions. This puts Xelerated in a position to be a substantial player in this high-growth market."
