Cogent Communications opts for Hibernia Atlantic's wavelength service

July 15, 2005 Boston, MA and Washington, DC -- Hibernia Atlantic announced today that Cogent Communications, a U.S. Ethernet service provider and multi-national tier 1 ISP, has selected Hibernia's network to provide 10-Gbit/sec wavelength services from Boston to London, and to meet the provider's growing customer demand for trans-Atlantic capacity.

"We are pleased to welcome Cogent to Hibernia's ever growing customer base," comments Eric Gutshall, VP of sales and marketing for Hibernia Atlantic. "We offer Cogent a unique sense of security and route diversity for its customers."

Hibernia Atlantic owns and operates a secure, direct trans-Atlantic cable route from the U.S. and Canada to Ireland and the UK. The route allows customers to move traffic between Europe and North America while bypassing London, New York, and other potential points of failure. Hibernia says its U.S.-built transport avoids traditional, congested oceanic routes, like the UK's Cornwall District or the NY and NJ waterways.

"Cogent's utmost goal is to provide our customers with the most reliable, high performance transit and transport services available at the most competitive pricing in the market," concludes Lee Livingston, VP of provisioning and carrier services for Cogent Communications. "Hibernia Atlantic helps contribute toward that goal, along with providing true diversity for Cogent."
