ZTE to expand Bulgarian DWDM network

July 21, 2005 Shenzhen, China -- ZTE today announced that it will expand Bulgaria's first DWDM optical network, installed earlier this year by the company, in a contract announced with Cabletel, the Bulgaria's leading fixed-line operator.

ZTE says the 293-km upgrade will expand the network to a total length of almost 800-km. The company says the expanded network will include four network nodes, and will be based upon its ZXWM M900 technology.

"Our high quality equipment, formidable construction capability, and across-the-board services - presented in the construction of the initial network - received overwhelming recognition from Cabletel," remarks Guo Jun, president of ZTE Eastern Europe. "We are delighted to have been chosen for the expansion of this landmark network, and will continue to provide first-class equipment and services to promote Bulgaria's telecommunications development."

The company says the expanded network will enable enhanced operation and maintenance competency, as well as high capacity and scalability. The company's range of optical transport products includes SDH/MSTP (multi-service transmission platform) equipment, backbone DWDM equipment, and metro DWDM equipment.
