Arkansas' Pinnacle Communications selects Optical Solutions' GPON

August 1, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Optical Solutions today announced that it will support Pinnacle Communications in deploying an FTTH network in the city of Lavaca, Arkansas. The river valley community, located 15 miles east of Fort Smith, is being refurbished with an all-fiber infrastructure, to enable a range of communication and entertainment services powered by the company's FiberPath system.

Pinnacle will deploy the company's FiberPath 500 system to 1,800 customers in its Lavaca exchange. The GPON system offers 1.2 Gbit/sec downstream and 622 Mbit/sec upstream bandwidth for the delivery of advanced voice services, symmetrical high-speed data service, and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV). The system is fully compliant with ITU FSAN standards.

"Nothing helps carriers stop the competition in their tracks like a GPON fiber-to-the-home network," contends Mike Dagenais, president and CEO of Optical Solutions.

"It's important that our customers remain satisfied - if not delighted -- with our services, because we know they have other options with wireless and cable operators," concludes Keith Gibson, president of Pinnacle. "It's also important that we do our part to encourage economic development in the area - and a FTTH network is a proven catalyst for that."
