MergeOptics extends X2 product line

August 25, 2005 Berlin, Germany -- MergeOptics, a supplier of integrated fiber-optic components and subsystems, has announced the availability of its X2 SR and X2 ER modules. The company's X2 range includes SR, ER, LR, and LX4 modules.

The X2 SR module supports 300-m links across multimode Fiber (MMF); the ER module supports 40-km links across MMF. The LR module supports 10-km links across singlemode fiber (SMF); the LX4 module supports 300-m links across legacy MMF and 10-km links across SMF.

All X2 products are standards-based and comply with the IEEE 802.3ae standard for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE). All modules comply with the EU RoHS requirements.

The initial introduction of the company's X2 products included the LR version which has been shipping into customer sites for over a year, and, more recently, its X2 LX4 version. The company notes that LX4 is the only proven 10-GbE standard for 300-m legacy MMF transmission, providing the ability to increase data transmission rates from 1 to10-GbE over existing fiber infrastructures.

"MergeOptics has established market leadership by maintaining its time-to-market advantage through the use of scalable technologies," comments Dag Neumeuer, president and CEO of MergeOptics.

All X2 modules are now available.
