Germantown Independent selects Alcatel for FTTN launch

August 31, 2005 Dallas, TX -- U.S.-based Germantown Independent Telephone Company is deploying Alcatel's 7330 ISAM FTTN broadband access platform, and has begun to commercially offer high-speed Internet services to its subscribers.

"With the Alcatel solution, we can provide strongly differentiated services to our customers," explains George Tallent, director of operations at Germantown Independent Telephone Company. "Harnessing the scalability and flexibility of the 7330 ISAM FTTN allows us to leverage our existing copper plant, while laying the groundwork to deliver additional high-bandwidth services in the future."

Germantown is integrating the 7330 ISAM FTTN platform with the Alcatel 5526 Access Management System (AMS), which allows for remote network support, provisioning, software downloads, database backup, and performance monitoring.

"Independent operating companies are striving to meet the demands of a customer base eager to access exciting new broadband services," concludes Mike Dobbs, senior vice president of Alcatel's access network activities. "An investment in fiber-to-the-node paves the way for the delivery of a whole new generation of user-centric broadband services."
