Denmark's Nianet picks Metrobility's CWDM platform

September 14, 2005 Merrimack, NH -- Metrobility Optical Systems today announced that Nianet, a Danish provider of VPN and Internet services, has deployed the Metrobility Radiance suite of products for the provisioning of MPLS Layer-3 services. The provider, a presence in all of Denmark's major cities, supports a 3200-km fiber network based on WDM/MPLS, and serves the country's largest enterprises.

The provider says it chose the company's Radiance line of managed CWDM devices supporting the IEEE 802.3ah OAM standard because of its enhanced price/performance value and advanced management features offered at the customer end. The company says the platform's intelligent optical demarcation technology will allow the provider to more quickly address service problems while eliminating downtime.

"Since moving to Metrobility's Radiance solution, we have seen drastic reductions in customer downtime, have improved borderline quality, and have experienced fewer hardware and duplex errors at the customer site," confirms Jens Peter Understrup, development manager for Nianet. "Most dramatic of all is the ease and speed with which we manage and prevent network problems. Metrobility gives us insight into customer sites without having to intrude into their actual network space."

"Our partnership with Nianet is further evidence that the world is moving to Gigabit Ethernet for broadband network services," says Steven Curtis, vice president of worldwide sales and service for Metrobility.
