APACN platform deployed in municipal FTTP network

September 27, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Crosslake Communications, a municipally owned service provider in Crosslake, Minnesota, has selected APA Cables & Networks' (APACN's) fiber management platform for deployment in the provider's FTTP network. The provider says the deployment is designed to cost-effectively upgrade its network infrastructure, allowing the community to offer state-of-the-art communications services.

"We are proud that many businesses are relocating to the Crosslake area due to our advances in technology and infrastructure," remarks Jared Johnson, operations manager at Crosslake Communications."Our FTTP initiative will future-proof our already leading-edge network to the next generation of services."

APACN says it was able to meet the provider's unique requirements by modifying the splitter platform for deployment in the field as well as at a central office location. As a result, the provider says it was able to standardize on a single part number.

"As a municipality, there are strict legal restraints to our RFQ process," continues Johnson. "The APACN fiber management platform was selected because it not only met our price point requirements, but their unique design allows for internal fiber management without the unused fibers cluttering the cabinet. APACN has accounted for splice trays, ground blocks, fiber cleaning, and ease of access, as well as future expansion, within the same cabinet."

APACN says its Fiber Distribution System (FDS) is designed for high-density broadband connectivity applications. The FDS product family consists of termination panels, splice panels, frames, and accessories. The company says the products meet Telcordia standards, and are suitable for the unique requirements of independent FTTP installations.
