K2 Optronics unveils 32-channel, 1024-QAM lasers for CATV DWDM networks

October 13, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- K2 Optronics has launched a line of 32-channel, 1550-nm wavelength, 1024-QAM lasers for cable television (CATV) DWDM networks. The company says the lasers increase the digital capacity of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) transmitters up to 4x to support the growing demand for interactive applications while, at the same time, promoting a twofold increase in the packaging density of QAM transmitters.

"Capitalizing on our expertise in analog laser components and CATV infrastructure, we are proud to be the pioneer in making this technology available to the CATV industry," comments Raj Kapany, president and CEO of K2 Optronics. "With such superior performance compared with competing devices, these lasers greatly simplify the design and implementation of CATV QAM transmitters. We are confident that these lasers will increase the capacity of conventional DWDM networks dramatically while simultaneously reducing transmitter production costs."
