October 17, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Arvig Communication Systems (ACS) of Perham, Minnesota announced that it has installed ADC's OmniReach Fiber Access Terminals in order to simplify installation, maintenance, and management of two FTTX network deployments in west central Minnesota.
According to the provider, one of the FTTX networks serves a rural area in the Perham Exchange; the other serves a lake-area golf course development and affluent residential area near Thumper Pond. The provider says this latest fiber installation includes ADC's OmniReach 12-inch Fiber Access Terminals (fiber/copper) and 10-inch Fiber Access Terminals (fiber only), each featuring rugged polypropylene housing. For both single-family homes as well as multiple dwelling units, ADC says the terminals provide physical protection, reliability, superior fiber management, and an aesthetically appealing appearance.
"We have a longstanding relationship with ADC, whose industry-leading FTTX solutions perfectly match our network infrastructure requirements for bringing fiber connectivity to our service area," comments Andy Klinnert, director of network operations for ACS. "ADC's Fiber Access Terminals are designed for passive optical networks like ours, proving again and again to be the right mix of robust, user-friendly, and cost-effective platforms for delivering fiber-optic service drops in our FTTX deployments."
ADC says the terminals' dome-style, stainless steel pedestal cover provides a continuous barrier to water and rodent intrusion, and uses a bell-jar effect to provide flood protection up to NEMA 6 standards. The company says the terminals' design ensures that proper bend radius in fiber cabling is maintained, and enables easy physical access to individual fibers, including fusion-spliced cables and those connected with SC or LC connectors.
