Metro Ethernet Forum certifies ECI Telecom's MSPPs

JUNE 5, 2007 -- ECI Telecom (search for ECI Telecom) today announced that its multi-service provisioning platforms (search for MSPP)--the XDM and the BroadGate (BG) series--have been certified to be compliant to the Metro Ethernet Forum (search for Metro Ethernet Forum) technical specifications for delivery of Ethernet services. These MEF certifications serve as a guarantee to current and future customers that deployment of ECI platforms meets the stringent requirements for Carrier Ethernet services.

Comprehensive testing was carried out by Iometrix testing lab. According to ECI Telecom, its XDM and BG platforms were found to be fully compliant to MEF 9 and MEF 14, successfully demonstrating the platforms' readiness to deliver any Metro Ethernet service in conformance with MEF's quality-of-service (QoS) attributes for traffic management. (See "For Metro Ethernet Forum, testing is critical").

"These certifications guarantee the ability of ECI Telecom's platforms to deliver any Ethernet service according to the requirements for service performance and bandwidth profile service attributes," explains Bob Mandeville, president and founder of Iometrix. "Service providers can be confident that deployment of ECI's equipment will enable them to offer carrier-class Ethernet services that are in accordance with MEF's rigorous standards."

"We are delighted to have received the MEF certifications and be part of the Forum's efforts to accelerate the global implementation of carrier-class Ethernet networks and services," adds Eyal Shaked, general manager of the Transport Networking Division and executive vice president of ECI Telecom. "These certifications confirm to our many customers worldwide who are already converging Ethernet and TDM services over our XDM and BG platforms that the Ethernet services running on their networks are of the highest possible quality and value."

ECI's multi-service XDM and BG platforms are optimized for metro, regional, and cellular networks. They support the full range of Carrier Ethernet services for business, triple-play, wireless backhauling, and wholesale applications, says the company. Moreover, ECI says the build-as-you-grow architecture and design of the XDM and BG families enable service providers to scale their networks easily and provide both CAPEX and OPEX savings.
