Colorado Springs School District selects Adesta for optical network

JULY 02, 2007 -- Adesta, LLC (search for Adesta), a systems integrator and project management company for communication networks and electronic security systems, has been awarded a $2.86 million contract to construct a complete fiber-optic infrastructure to 61 district schools and school facilities in Colorado Springs, CO. The district's project will deploy new, dedicated, fiber-optic laterals connected directly to the City of Colorado Springs fiber-optic ring networks. These connections will provide the district with reliable, dedicated, high-capacity connection to all their facilities, while leveraging existing, city-owned backbone infrastructure, according to Adesta.

Upon completion in January 2008, the network will provide enhanced educational services and equal educational access to district students. Interaction in an efficient and cost-effective manner will be possible for students physically separated by location, Adesta says. Advanced services enabled by the network will include distance learning, video conferencing, high-speed Internet access, telephone voice services, and data services.

"Expanding technology is absolutely imperative to the advancement of education in our country", said Bob Sommerfeld, president of Adesta. "Adesta is happy to be able to deploy the updated infrastructure necessary to make this exciting progression a reality for the students, schools and communities in and around Colorado Springs."

"We are confident our relationship with Adesta will propel our district forward through the utilization of their experience," said Terry Bishop, superintendent of schools. "The network will definitely provide the schools and communities of District 11 with many new advantages including distance learning and high-speed capabilities. This is an exciting new partnership. We envision a very bright future for our students."
