Inphi opens design innovation center

AUGUST 6, 2007 -- Inphi Corp. (search for Inphi) has established the first of its Global Centers for Design Innovation in the heart of the Silicon Valley. The Silicon Valley Design Center, which will be managed by Ali Wehbi, is intended to expand the depth of technical resources Inphi applies in designing integrated circuits for processing data in communication and computing systems.

"The Silicon Valley Design Center represents the next step in Inphi's aggressive expansion strategy," said Norman K. Yeung, Inphi's vice president, engineering. "This location enables us to synchronize our development initiatives with our Silicon Valley-based strategic partners and customers, and capitalize on the area's enormous cache of talent and knowledge."

Inphi expects the Silicon Valley Design Center will employ nearly 100 technologists within five years. Recruiting efforts for immediate openings are underway.

Prior to joining Inphi, Wehbi managed the Mobius Microsystems Sunnyvale and Detroit design centers as vice president of design engineering. Additionally, he worked in increasingly responsible senior engineering positions at ARM, Cypress Semiconductor, Integrated Device Technology Advanced Micro Devices, and Applied Micro Circuits Corp. He earned a bachelor of science and a master of science both in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He was awarded a patent for his work on an extended range current controlled oscillator, which he assigned to IDT.
