CoreOptics introduces MLSE-2 for metro/regional networks

FEBRUARY 25, 2008 -- CoreOptics Inc. has made available the second generation of its Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE) technology for deployment in metro/regional optical networks.

"Optical metro and regional transmission platforms based on MLSE will offer an adaptive compensation capability that will enable ROADM-based installed networks to achieve much faster service activation time," says Hamid Arabzadeh, president and chief executive officer of CoreOptics.

"Our company's 10G MLSE equalization technology is a fundamental building block in CoreOptics' long-term strategy to advance utilization of optical networks by broadly applying digital signal processing to optical transport at 10, 40, and 100 Gbits/sec," says chief technology officer Christoph Schulien, PhD.

The company currently offers 10-Gbit/sec DWDM, 40-Gbit/sec single-channel short-reach, and 40/43-Gbit DWDM transponder modules. The company's product portfolio also includes 43-Gbit/sec Ultra-FEC, 40G multiplexer/demultiplexer for 4x10-Gbit/sec client signals, and interface converters supporting SFI-5s, SFI-4, and XFI to enable building of next-generation open tolerant networks.
