APRIL 9, 2008 -- Regional fiber bandwidth provider Zayo Bandwidth (search for Zayo) reveals it has won a contract with network integrator Core180 to help Core180 expand its proprietary last-mile platform into the northeastern portion of the U.S. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Core180 manages shared networks as a way to help customers increase their networking options while reducing costs and manpower. Using its proprietary platform, Core180 offers customers purpose-built network designs and deployments that combine services, carriers and, buying strategies from providers such as Zayo Bandwidth. Core180 currently interconnects with more than 30 carrier networks throughout the U.S.
"The fact that Zayo's bandwidth solutions enable network diversity, reliability, and scalability were all important factors for us," said David Baule, CEO of Core180. "With a strong and growing fiber footprint, Zayo has the reach and ability to respond to our customer's high-bandwidth needs as we grow our platform."
Zayo's network spans 17,000 metro and regional fiber route miles in the U.S. Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. Zayo currently serves nearly 1,400 on-net building locations in 12 states.
