Qwest launches two FTTN-enabled Internet offerings

APRIL 24, 2008 -- Qwest Communications International Inc. (search for Qwest) two new Internet offerings via its fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) infrastructure. Targeted at residential and small-business customers, Qwest Connect Quantum and Qwest Connect Titanium offer connection speeds of up to 20 and 12 Mbits/sec, respectively.

In a phased rollout, Qwest will introduce the new services in 23 of its top markets. The company did not provide a rollout schedule, but directed interested potential customers to input their Zip Codes into a Web page to discover if they have access to the service.

Qwest Connect Quantum and Titanium will leverage Windows Live.

According to Dan Yost, executive vice president of product for Qwest, "Qwest has committed to spend up to $300 million to bring the latest in fiber-optic technology closer to the customer than ever before, and we're ahead of schedule on our goal to make this service available to two million customers by the end of this year."

Qwest Connect Quantum will be offered at a bundled price of $99.99 per month, Qwest Connect Titanium at $46.99 per month.
