Bookham analog filter now qualified

JUNE 26, 2008 -- Bookham Inc. has announced that its low-ripple filter for analog transmission in the CATV and FTTx markets is now customer qualified and is in volume production. The filter enables cable equipment manufacturers to increase capacity in the network by using DWDM technology.

Incorporating a proprietary and patent pending design, the filter has very low ripple slope, a ripple of <0.01 dB, and chromatic dispersion of d+/- 15 psec/nm, Bookham says. It is designed for use in the O-Band, C-Band, and L-Band.

"Our ripple values demonstrated with this filter are as much as 20 times better than the industry norm," said product line manager Anthony Abdilla. "Bandwidth expansion over analog transmission requires the flattest, highest performance ripple filters to ensure low interference and high CSO (composite second order) values, and with the product successfully qualified and into full-volume production we are ideally suited to meet the needs of the major cable operators and service providers."
