LightRiver Technologies deploys fSONA's FSO in City of Moreno Valley, CA
10 September 2003 Orlando, FL Lightwave - Systems integrator LightRiver Technologies and free-space optics supplier fSONA Communications announced that the City of Moreno Valley, CA has completed the deployment of the fSONA SONAbeam 155-S free-space optics system to connect remote offices to the city's communications infrastructure.

Highwave Optical Technologies to provide EDFAs to Korean metro DWDM equipment supplier LETEK
9 September 2003 Lannion, France Lightwave-- Highwave Optical Technologies today announced that LETEK, a Korean supplier of DWDM systems, will use its erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) technology. The EDFAs will be deployed in the highest capacity TACHYON OADM100G Metro DWDM platform commercialized by LETEK. The transaction is valued at a few hundred thousand (U.S.) dollars, according to the company.

China Telecom first in China to deploy Siemens MSPP technology
14 August 2003 Munich Lightwave--Siemens Information and Communications Networks has been commissioned by China Telecom to upgrade the carrier's optical network in Lanzhou in the province of Gansu. China Telecom is planning to deploy Siemens' new SURPASS hiT 7050 multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP) to support data services based on Ethernet in the metro domain alongside traditional SDH-based voice services. The carrier is the first in China to use Siemen's MSPP technology.

ADVA's Fiber Service Platform 3000 to be installed under Siemens' contract for Telstra's optical backbone networks
12 August 2003 Martinsried/Munich and Mahwah, NJ Lightwave--ADVA Optical Networking, a global provider of optical networking systems, today announced that its Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 3000 is part of the optical infrastructure to be deployed by Siemens in major Australian cities for telecommunications carrier Telstra. Siemens has a strategic partnership with ADVA, which includes reselling the FSP 3000.

Costa Rican telecommunications provider ICE to deploy Lucent optical networking systems
12 August 2003 San Jose, Costa Rica Lightwave--Lucent Technologies today announced that Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), the sole telecommunications provider in Costa Rica, will deploy Lucent optical networking equipment. The systems will enable ICE to provide mobile and wireline services using a common transport network.

SaskTel selects Lucent Technologies Metropolis equipment for its regional optical network
29 July 2003 Murray Hill, NJ Lightwave--Lucent Technologies today announced a deal with SaskTel, a Canadian service provider, to provide optical networking equipment that will allow SaskTel to increase network capacity and offer faster, more sophisticated services. SaskTel is the first service provider to deploy Lucent's new optical management system which supports real-time provisioning and virtually instantaneous restoration, according to the systems company.
