Anritsu demonstrates stressed receiver conformance test for characterization of 10-Gigabit Ethernet receivers 3 April 2003 Richardson, TX Lightwave--Anritsu Co. recently demonstrated a stressed receiver conformance test solution that accurately characterizes and verifies 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) optical receivers according to the IEEE 802.3ae-2002 standard.
SHF and CoreOptics develop clock recovery module for 40G apps 2 April 2003 Berlin, Nuremburg, Germany Lightwave Europe--Measurement module specialist SHF Communication Technologies and modules and subsystems developer CoreOptics are jointly developing a stand alone clock recovery module for 40G applications.
MARGI Systems unveils Presenter-to-Go mobile presentation solution for Palm Tungsten T handhelds MARGI Systems claims its Presenter-to-Go SD is the first product to allow presentations created in PowerPoint or any printable PC application to be transferred directly to the Palm Tungsten T handheld and displayed via a digital projector in high-quality, full-color, 1024 x 768 resolution.
Keithley Instruments introduces configurable laser diode test systems 1 April 2003 Cleveland, OH Lightwave--Keithley Instruments is debuting customizable test system kits for light-current-voltage characterization of laser diodes and assembled laser diode modules.
WaveSmith Networks adds MPLS to multiservice switching products March 31, 2003--Multiservice switching provider WaveSmith Networks today announced three additions to its distributed node (DN) platform: multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) support for the entire DN product line, the multiservice forwarding module, and the DN 8100 multiservice switch.
Infineon announces availability of 1310-nm VCSEL diode and iSFP transceiver module March 28, 2003--Infineon Technologies AG recently announced the availability of a VCSEL diode with a 1310-nm wavelength, the first such diode to be produced by a supplier that can manufacture it in high volumes, say company representatives. Infineon demonstrated the new VCSEL diode operating in an iSFP transceiver module at OFC this week.
NEC unveils new 2.5- and 10-Gbit/sec Electro-Absorption modulator laser modules March 27, 2003--California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) has announced the availability of a new series of 2.5-Gbit/sec and 10-Gbit/sec Electro-Absorption Modulator MQW DFB laser diode modules from NEC.
Sumitomo Electric introduces fibers tailored for FTTX and access applications March 26, 2003--Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, manufacturer of fiber-optic solutions and founding member of the FTTH Council, has introduced what it claims is the industry's first singlemode fibers designed specifically for Fiber-to-the-Home, Fiber-to-the-Desk and general access and enterprise network applications.
Cube Optics introduces 8-channel CWDM with flexible fiber connections March 25, 2003--Cube Optics AG, German developer and manufacturer of miniaturized fiber-optic components, introduced today what it claims is the smallest 8-channel Coarse WDM (CWDM) available. The company's Flexible Fiber Connection (FFC) enables the customer to decide on the location of the fiber ports, resulting in efficient use of space and design flexibility.
Finisar demonstrates 40-km XFP optical transceiver March 24, 2003--Finisar Corp. is demonstrating its new 40-km XFP 10-Gbit/sec optical transceivers at this week's OFC 2003 show in Atlanta. The extended reach XFP transceivers come in two versions: One uses a 1310-nm DFB laser and the other a cooled 1550-nm EML. The latter version complies with 40-km 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-ER/EW per IEEE 802.3ae) and SONET OC-192 IR-2, and provides a platform to support 100-GHz-spacing DWDM.
