NetTest releases a large bay adaptor and a 50-dB OTDR module for the CMA 5000 Multi-layer Test Platform

AMCC unveils second-generation electronic compensation technology

(AMCC) has built upon its electronic dispersion compensation technology, DispersionXX, with the introduction of the S3394 10-Gbit/sec receiver device. The implementation of the S3394 enables customers to reduce power, expand link distances, and use less expensive optics when designing small form factor solutions, say company representatives.

Dallas Semiconductor launches 20-kilohm option for its SFP optical control/monitor
5 November 2003 Dallas, TX Lightwave -- Dallas Semiconductor, manufacturer of optical control and monitoring products, recently introduced the DS1859-020, a new 20-kilohm, full-scale resistance option for its popular DS1859 SFP controller/monitor.

Glimmerglass releases first three products
4 November 2003 Hayward, CA Lightwave - Glimmerglass is coming out of stealthmode and introducing three transparent connectivity products based on the same core technology. The three products in the System 300 family include the System 300T Fiber Connection Server for product test and measurement applications, the System 300E Layer 1 Fiber Switch for enterprise applications, and the System 300V Fiber Routing Switcher for video over fiber applications.

Agilent upgrades OmniBER XM
3 November 2003 Palo Alto, CA Lightwave -- Agilent Technologies Inc. announced that its OmniBER XM network simulator platform now supports simultaneous multi-channel, multi-port testing at the SONET/SDH Virtual Tributary/Tributary Unit (VT/TU) level. This capability provides designers and verification test engineers of multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPPs) with the ability to measure the performance of thousands of VT/TU channels simultaneously.

Innocor enhances Tsunami test platform
3 November 2003 Almonte, Canada Lightwave -- Innocor, a provider of broadband network test equipment, has introduced the 10GbE LAN module, which offers forward error correction support for 10-Gigabit Ethernet LAN based on Optical Transport Network G.709 features. The Tsunami shelf system also provides a multi-slot test solution for Generic Framing Procedure and Virtual Concatenation.

Modulight launches uncooled 1310-nm DFB laser
31 October 2003 Tampere, Finland Lightwave -- Modulight, Inc. has launched the first in a series of uncooled DFB laser products designed for SONET OC-3 to OC-48, SDH STM-1 to STM-16, Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications that require up to 2.5-Gbit/sec transmission speeds. The company says the product has extremely stable performance over temperature range of 0 to 85 degrees Centigrade and features a typical side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) of 43 dB.

LIGHTCONNECT Intros 100-GHz metro Dynamic Channel Equalizer
30 October 2003 Newark, CA Lightwave -- LIGHTCONNECT today introduced a MEMS-based Dynamic Channel Equalizer (DCE) with 100-GHz ITU grid spacing and what the company claims is industry leading optical performance, including high extinction, low polarization dependent loss (PDL) and large useable bandwidth.

ADVA Optical Networking launches major CWDM feature release for FSP 2000
30 October 2003 Munich, Germany, and Mahwah, NJ Lightwave -- ADVA Optical Networking this week launched a major new release for its Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 2000 system with enhanced Coarse WDM (CWDM) functionality.
