PGN deploys Corning Vascade L1000 optical fiber in undersea Indonesian network February 5, 2003--Optical fiber supplier Corning Inc. announced today that PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), a state-owned Indonesian gas company, has selected Corning Vascade L1000 optical fiber for its undersea Indonesian network. This is the first installation of Vascade L1000 fiber in Southeast Asia.
Time Warner Telecom builds multi-point metro Ethernet network for First Tennessee February 5, 2003--Time Warner Telecom and First Tennessee (FTN) have announced completion of a new Ethernet metro network, designed to increase communications speeds at FTN's data center facility by 2 1/2 times and increase speeds to local branch financial centers by 100 times.

MFN trims European assets January 24, 2003--Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. (MFN), a provider of optical communications infrastructure, has decided to focus its European activities in the UK and Germany/Austria. In keeping with this strategy, the company's European holding company, MFN BV, has sold its operations in France and the Netherlands.

Optical micro cabling technology field trial successful January 16, 2003--Alcatel, Oasis Micro Networks, and Sherman & Reilly today announced the successful completion of a field
trial in Atlanta, GA., of a newly developed optical micro cabling technology for the deployment of fiber-optic cables. In the trial, a fiber-optic cable route of approximately 20,000 feet was installed in slightly under an hour and a half.
