June 3, 2004 Richardson, TX-- White Rock Networks announced the addition of VT1.5 grooming functionality to its VLX2020 SONET transport platform. In addition to VLX2020's existing 100-Gbit/sec STS-1 grooming fabric, carriers will now be able to specify either 2.5 or 5 Gbits/sec of VT1.5 grooming capability allowing them to manage traffic down to the T1 level.

Tunable VCSEL gets to grips with vibration
May 27, 2004 -- Bandwidth9 of the US has developed what it calls a "MEMS bridge structure" to form the basis of a mechanically stable tuning platform for its 1550- nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). The low-power devices are being lined up for metro network applications such as dynamic tuning or optical add and drop, reports Tami Freeman.
