Infinera announces first customer

Cox Communications deploys Atrica's Optical Ethernet Systems
January 31, 2005 Richardson, TX -- Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. and Atrica announced that Cox Communications has adopted the Fujitsu Flexible Architecture for Subscriber Service Termination (FASST) strategy. Cox Communications has completed deployment of Atrica's Optical Ethernet products, a component of the FASST portfolio, for a converged voice, video, and data services network that serves the New Orleans Public Schools (NOPS).

China Telecom taps Alcatel for optical backbone
January 17, 2005 Paris -- Alcatel has signed a multi-million contract with China Telecom to deploy an optical backbone network spanning 2,300 km across the southeastern part of China. The new transport infrastructure will provide connectivity for the ChinaNet2 (CN2) network. The contract was won through Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel's Chinese flagship company.

Cox Communications adds OpVista DWDM system to approved product list
January 10, 2005 Irvine, CA -- Cox Communications Inc. has awarded OpVista Inc. a multi-year contract to deliver the MetroVista DWDM optical transport system to facilitate Cox's migration to a fully converged, next-generation DWDM network. Because Cox allows each of its markets to choose its own equipment from an approved vendor list, the MetroVista equipment will be pitted against Ciena's ONLINE Metro DWDM system in most markets, according to Editorial Director Stephen Hardy.

Level 3 signs multi-year agreement with France Telecom
January 3, 2005 Broomfield, CO --The operating subsidiary of Level 3 Communications, Inc. has signed a multi-year agreement to provide transmission and colocation services to France Telecom. The agreement replaces an existing fiber contract signed in 2000.
