Ample, Big Bear unveil Layer 1 and 2 platform for 40G networks

The platform consists of Ample's Blackbird 40-Gbit/sec frame processor and Big Bear's Kodiak 40-Gbit/sec transponder.

Phyworks' 1-Gbit to 4-Gbit TIAs target ROSAs
April 26, 2005 Bristol, England -- Phyworks, a producer of semiconductor integrated circuits for data and telecom networking systems and modules, has expanded its line of transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs). The company's PHY1092, PHY1093, and PHY1094 ICs are designed for 1-Gbit to 4-Gbit fiber applications. The company says the devices offer module manufacturers advantages of integration and cost-reduction.

Transmux / PDH mapping platform reduces cost of voice, data services
April 25, 2005 Santa Clara, CA -- PMC-Sierra has introduced its PM8318 TEMAP 168, a high-density platform for trans-multiplexing (transmux) and PDH mapping functions. April 20, 2005 Fort Myers, FL -- Crystek Crystals, a manufacturer of frequency control products, has launched its CVSS-940 True SineWave Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO), which, according to the company, provides -150-dBc/Hz noise floor and +/-50-ppm minimum APR pullability. The device comes in an industry-standard 9-mm x 14-mm SMD package.
