Cisco launches IP NGN platform enhancements, announces deployments
April 18, 2005 San Jose, CA -- Cisco today announced products, features, and deployments related to its Internet Protocol Next-Generation Networks (IP NGN) platform for service providers. The company says the platform enables carriers to deliver new services, while improving opex and capex efficiencies, and enhancing value-added network and service control. The platform was introduced in December 2004.

Master Bond introduces optically clear, UV-curable adhesive/coating
April 18, 2005 Hackensack, NJ -- UV15-7 is a one-component, optically clear, non-yellowing UV curable polymer developed by Master Bond, a provider of advanced adhesives, sealants, coatings, and potting technology. According to the company, the polymer, a 100% reactive system containing no solvents or other volatiles, cures almost instantaneously when exposed to a UV light source of adequate wavelength.

Albis Opto launches new photodiodes
April 15, 2005 Rueschlikon, Switzerland -- Albis Optoelectronics, a developer and manufacturer of photodiodes for analog and digital applications, has introduced its X-tra Small line of photodiodes, which measure 300 x 350 micron. According to the company, the chips offer high responsivity, low capacitance, and low bias voltages of typically 1.5 V, while occupying minimal space on TO-headers.

AFOP rolls out CWDM duplex patch cords
April 14, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- Alliance Fiber Optic Products (AFOP), a supplier of fiber-optic components, subsystems, and integrated modules, has introduced its line of CWDM duplex patch cords and patch cord sets. The cables are available in nine different color-coded clips, allowing users to color-match connections to different CWDM channels, thereby minimizing misconnections.

Sterlite Optical launches fiber cabling products for access networks

Semtech adds jitter attenuating and clock multiplying IC to SETS product line
April 12, 2005 Camarillo, CA -- Semtech, a supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for communications, portable devices, computers, and industrial equipment, has introduced its ACS8942A, a jitter attenuating and multiplying (JAM) phase-locked loop (PLL) for generating ultra-low jitter output clocks for SONET and SDH network equipment. The IC adds to the company's synchronous equipment timing source (SETS) product family.

Hamamatsu launches 10-Gb-compatible ROSAs for design into XFP transceivers
April 11, 2005 Bridgewater, NJ -- Hamamatsu's G9911-14/-54 receiver optical sub-assemblies (ROSAs) are compatible with 10-Gbit/sec miniature devices (XMD) and designed for use in XFP transceivers, as well as SONET/SDH network applications.

April 6, 2005 Richardson, TX -- Fujitsu has announced the availability of several significant, "generation-skipping" advancements to its Flashwave 7500 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM), including a Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) optical switch fabric, full 40-channel C-band tunable narrowband optics, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) interfaces, multi-port and multi-rate SONET Flexponder interface cards, and an intelligent control plane.

Big Bear launches 10GBase-LRM modules for 300-m Ethernet over MMF
April 5, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- Big Bear Networks has introduced its line of 10GBase-LRM transponders, based on the IEEE 802.3aq standard, to enable the transmission of 10-Gbit/sec Ethernet (10-GbE) over 300 meters of Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade multimode fiber (MMF).
