ExceLight unveils uncooled coaxial lasers for CATV forward-path apps
November 14, 2005 Durham, NC -- ExceLight Communications has launched a family of uncooled coaxial lasers for CATV applications. According to the company, the devices, designed to enable more cost-effective forward-path applications, offer output powers up to 5 mW at 1310 nm - about 2 - 3 dB higher than previous generations of uncooled coaxial lasers.
Tellabs' ONTs extend FTTP to MDUs
November 10, 2005 San Diego, CA -- Tellabs has announced multiple dwelling unit (MDU) support for its 1600 Series Optical Network Terminal (ONT) product line. The company says the new capability enables service providers to leverage existing wiring in multi-dwelling buildings, such as apartment complexes or university residence halls, in FTTP deployments.
Broadband multiplexer platform supports T1/E1, OC-3/STM-1 interfaces
November 9, 2005 Richardson, TX --White Rock Networks has expanded its optical transport product family to include its VLX840 OC-3/STM-1 to T1/E1 Multiplexer. The company says the device will provide additional DS1 capacity in conjunction with the company's VLX2006 OC-48 SONET-based Optical Access platform.
Implant singlemode VCSEL targets reflected signal apps
November 8, 2005 Meggen-Lucerne, Switzerland -- Litrax has introduced its 850-nm implant singlemode vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (SM VCSEL) and laser bundles for applications requiring a reflected signal. The company says the lasers are superior in ESD (> 1 kV), reliability, and performance, as compared to oxide VCSELs.
XLoom intros pluggable optics for InfiniBand HPC clusters
November 7, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- XLoom Communications, a developer of chip-scale optoelectronic interconnects, has announced the availability of its InfiniFlame 12X series of front-panel pluggable optical modules for interconnecting InfiniBand clusters. The company says the optical transmitter/receiver pair comprises a 12-channel, InfiniBand-ready, optical interconnect platform that supports speeds of up to 30 Gbit/sec per port.
Force10 boosts 10-GbE density of TeraScale E-Series
