BCNET taps fSONA
November 8, 2005 Victoria, British Columbia and McLean, VA -- The University President's Council (TUPC) of British Columbia (BC) has been connected to BCNET, a builder of research and education networks, using fSONA's optical wireless communication devices and free space optical (FSO) technology.

Fibertech expands CT fiber network
November 8, 2005 Rochester, NY -- Fibertech Networks, a metro transport provider operating fiber-optic networks in 20 cities throughout the Northeast U.S., has completed a major expansion of its network infrastructure in Connecticut. Following recently signed customer contracts, the company has added nearly 800 mi. to its fiber network in that state, more than doubling its capacity to greater than 1,300 miles over the last two years.

Bechtel contracts FiberOptic.com for Iraqi telecom training
November 8, 2005 Sellersville, PA -- FiberOptic.com has received a contract from Bechtel to train Iraqi telecommunications workers in Baghdad. FiberOptic.com's staff will conduct the training onsite in November 2005. According to a press release, this is the third time this year that FiberOptic.com has conducted training in Iraq for Bechtel.

BTI, TTI deliver metro network to Thai electric utility
November 8, 2005 Ottawa, Canada -- BTI Photonic Systems today announced that its Netstender platform has been deployed by the EGAT Public Company Limited of Thailand, as that utility builds out its network for competitive services delivery. For the project, aimed at Thailand's telecom service providers, BTI partnered with Thai Transmission Industry Co. (TTI), a provider of network implementation and technology support services.

Georgia co-op Bulloch Telephone eyes ETI'S Triad for FTTP provisioning
November 7, 2005 Norcross, GA -- Bulloch Telephone Cooperative (Statesboro, GA) has selected ETI Software's CableBridge platform to automate provisioning of its Motorola National Authorization Service - Regional Access Controller (NAS RAC) system. Bulloch says its installation of CableBridge will provide a foundation for its pending upgrade to ETI's Triad platform, for automated provisioning of its Motorola AXSvision FTTP network, currently under construction.

ADVA deploys 10G Ethernet network for Japan's ZTV
November 7, 2005 Munich, Germany -- ADVA Optical Networking today announced the deployment of a 10-Gbit/sec Ethernet network for cable operator ZTV of Japan. ADVA's carrier-class Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 3000 and FSP 2000 DWDM systems were used in the deployment.

Holland's Versatel selects Nortel's metro optical platform
November 7, 2005 Amsterdam, Netherlands -- Versatel, a Dutch telecommunications company, has selected Nortel's metro Ethernet and packet optical transport platforms to provide "triple play" VoIP, video, and broadband Internet services.

Southern Cross Cables touts $218M new capacity sales for 2005
November 7, 2005 Wellington, New Zealand -- The Southern Cross Cables network project recently announced new capacity sales of $218 million for the period March to October 2005. Representatives for Southern Cross say that the project's recent sales reflect strong broadband growth, and have enabled repayment of the bank debt which financed the project from its initial construction in 1998.

Time Warner Cable selects RAD pseudowire platform for TDM service delivery over metro Ethernet
November 4, 2005 Mahwah, NJ -- RAD Data Communications and Time Warner Cable have announced the deployment of RAD's TDMoIP pseudowire technology as part of Time Warner Cable's metro Ethernet service offering in its Houston, Texas market. RAD says its IPmux family of TDMoIP gateways will enable customers to take advantage of the operator's Ethernet services, while providing integrated support for existing TDM services over the same Ethernet transport network.

Global telecom carrier capex growing, slowdown in China expected in 2006, reports Infonetics
November 3, 2005 Boston, MA -- Public carriers in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific have increased their capital expenditures two years in a row, and are expected to increase them again for a third consecutive year in 2005, according to a report from Infonetics Research.
