ECI Telecom inks $59M deal with ICE Costa Rica
October 10, 2005 Petah Tikva, Israel -- ECI Telecom has signed an agreement with Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), a government-owned utility company in Costa Rica, to provide the utility with an advanced backbone network across Costa Rica, enabling telecommunication traffic routing throughout the country. The project is worth $59 million.

Report: U.S. FTTH communities top 650, up 200% from '04

CyOptics closes $27M Series F financing
October 6, 2005 Lehigh Valley, PA -- CyOptics, a supplier of high-speed optical chips and components for broadband communication platforms, announced the closing of its $27 million Series F funding round. The company says the round financed its recent acquisition and integration of TriQuint Semiconductor's optoelectronics division.
Luna Innovations absorbs Luna Technologies

The acquisition closed on September 30, 2005.
Tennessee muni Pulaski Electric chooses Wave7 FTTP
October 5, 2005 Las Vegas, NV -- Wave7 Optics announced that Pulaski Electric System of Pulaski, Tennessee has selected the company's Trident7 Optical Access Platform. The public utility will use the company's "universal PON system" to build a FTTP network connecting homes and businesses in Giles County, Tennessee, which includes the city of Pulaski.
Telecom Ottawa picks Ciena
October 5, 2005 Ottawa, Canada and Linthicum, MD -- Telecom Ottawa, a network services provider to Eastern Ontario businesses and public-sector organizations, has announced the availability of a suite of SONET, WDM, and storage extension services enabled by platforms from Ciena. The services are designed to provide Canadian federal government agencies, as well as enterprises and carriers, with 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) connectivity throughout the Ottawa metropolitan region.
