JDS Uniphase to acquire Agility Communications
September 8, San Jose, CA -- JDS Uniphase today announced a definitive agreement to acquire Agility Communications, provider of widely tunable laser solutions for the optical network. According to JDS Uniphase representatives, the acquisition establishes its leadership in the rapidly growing market for tunable lasers and transponders, and positions the company as the broadest end-to-end agile optical network portfolio provider in the marketplace.

Kotura raises $13 million in additional funding
September 7, 2005 Monterey Park, CA -- Kotura, provider of silicon photonic products, has raised $13 million in Series 2 preferred stock financing. The financing round was led by new investor GF Private Equity Group and included the Viterbi Group, also a new investor. Existing investors ComVentures and ARCH Venture Partners also participated.

Cable & Wireless selects Cisco IP core router platform
September 2, 2005 London, UK -- Cable & Wireless has awarded a contract to Cisco Systems to provide the Internet protocol (IP) core element for the carrier's next generation network (NGN).
