David Hall joins CommScope
December 13, 2005 Hickory, NC -- CommScope announced that David Hall has joined the company's Enterprise Fiber Optic Solutions product management team as its product manager for fiber-optic cable products. In this role, Hall will lead the company's Enterprise business operation, including its Systimax and Uniprise platforms.

Tropic Networks mounts corporate reorganization
December 13, 2005 Ottawa, Canada -- Tropic Networks, a developer of metro-regional DWDM systems, has announced a proposal to "spin out" its high technology assets and business into a new company to be renamed Tropic Networks ("NewCo"). The company says the move comes in an effort to maximize value for its stakeholders.

Fujitsu completes construction of SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable network
December 13, 2005 Tokyo, Japan -- Fujitsu Limited announced that it has completed construction of an optical submarine cable network for the SEA-ME-WE 4 consortium, within a timeframe of 18 months. Fujitsu was awarded the contract with co-contractor Alcatel Submarine Networks (Paris, France) in March 2004.

RIO raises $8.4M Series C funding
December 13, 2005 Santa Clara, CA -- Redfern Integrated Optics (RIO), a developer of high-performance optical transmitters for telecommunications and data transmission markets, announced that it has secured an additional $2.2 million from GE Capital Equity Investments and Jolimont Ventures, bringing the company's total amount of funding raised to $8.4 million.

MCI, Xtera, Mintera, Juniper bind to advance 40G technology
December 12, 2005 Ashburn, VA -- MCI announced that it has teamed with Xtera Communications, Mintera, and Juniper Networks in successful transmission of 40 Gbit/sec bandwidth over 3,040 km of field fiber in MCI's Dallas metro area network. The companies say this milestone demonstrates the availability of next-generation technology for supporting high-bandwidth IP traffic demands over ultra long haul (ULH) distances on existing fiber infrastructure.

Sri Lanka Telecom picks Juniper routing platform
December 8, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has deployed Juniper Networks' M-series multiservice routers to enhance its network and to provide advanced IP services to premium and corporate customers. The Juniper M-series was implemented to replace legacy gateway routers in SLT's network, enabling the operator to achieve higher network performance and reliability.
