Airbus North America picks Global Internetworking to deliver WAN fiber ring
June 27, 2005 McLean, VA -- Airbus North America has selected Global Internetworking (GII) to design, deploy, and manage a high-capacity WAN fiber ring linking Airbus's North American headquarters and operations in the Washington, D.C. area with the company's nationwide and global high-capacity data transport network.

BroadLight wins PON patent
June 27, 2005 Mountain View, CA -- BroadLight today announced that it has secured a patent relating to Forward Error Correction (FEC) technology. The company says the patent (U.S. Patent # 6,895,546, "System and method for encoding and decoding data utilizing modified Reed-Solomon codes") represents a breakthrough implementation of FEC that enables service providers to cost-effectively deliver FTTP services to millions of subscribers.

NextG Networks re-ups with Corning Cable Systems
June 27, 2005 Corning, NY -- Corning Cable Systems has again been selected by NextG Networks, a provider of municipal cellular deployments, as NextG's national fiber-optic cable and hardware supplier in the construction of fiber-based distributed antenna networks. The companies signed an initial cable and hardware agreement late last year, and have agreed to extend the agreement through June 2006.

Report: Gigabit switch equipment bolsters LAN switch market in U.S., EMEA regions

Alcatel to deploy optical systems for oil plants in Kazakhstan
June 22, 2005 Paris, France -- Alcatel has won a €11.2 million contract from Agip KCO - a wholly owned subsidiary of Eni, an international oil and natural gas company - to provide an integrated telecommunications platform for Agip KCO's offshore and onshore plants at the Kashagan oil field, in the Kazakhstan section of the North Caspian Sea. The contract is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2006.

Hungarian operator selects Marconi optical platforms for SDH upgrade
June 22, 2005 London, UK -- Marconi today announced that Magyar Telekom, (formerly known as Matáv), Hungary's incumbent telecommunications and Internet service provider, will upgrade its existing SDH transport network using Marconi's OMS1664, OMS840, and SMA1/4UC multiservice optical platforms, as well as the company's ServiceOn network management system.
