Infinera mops up Big Bear's EDC technology December 7, 2005 Sunnyvale, CA -- Infinera has acquired Big Bear Networks' electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) technology and assets. Big Bear's EDC products already support the the Infinera DTN digital optical networking system; future versions the EDC products will be developed at Infinera and integrated into Infinera ASICs, according to a press release.

Founded in 2002, Abundance is a supplier of TDM/Ethernet over SONET/SDH optical access platforms in India.
TranSwitch to acquire Mysticom December 7, 2005 Shelton, CT -- TranSwitch, a provider of high-speed semiconductor platforms for the communications industry, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Mysticom, a privately-held developer of multi-Gigabit Ethernet transceivers. With the acquisition, TranSwitch says it gains in-house capability to integrate high-speed SerDes and PHY technology into its future Envoy, PHAST, and EtherMap series of Carrier-class Ethernet products.

LightPointe, Huawei mount optical wireless deployment for Kenya Data Networks December 5, 2005 San Diego, CA -- African telecom operator Kenya Data Networks (KDN) has deployed optical wireless links from LightPointe as part of a wireless network ring. KDN installed three LightPointe FlightStrata 155 systems in a high-capacity metropolitan ring network in the city of Nairobi. LightPointe's strategic OEM partner Huawei Technologies provided network integration, provisioning, and installation services for the deployment.
