Idacomm sells Las Vegas private dark fiber rings to Mpower June 16, 2005 Las Vegas, NV -- Idacomm today announced the sale of three redundant dark fiber rings in Las Vegas to Mpower Communications. The 141 miles of existing fiber are concentrated in the densely populated business areas of the greater Las Vegas valley. Consisting of three distinct dark fiber rings, the network connects the majority of the city's central offices, providing a platform for enhanced carrier products including metro Ethernet, SONET, and additional dark fiber networks.
General Cable announces plant closures June 16, 2005 Highland Heights, KY -- General Cable today announced its decision to close its fiber-optic military and premise cable manufacturing plant in Dayville, Connecticut, and to relocate production from this plant to its recently acquired facility in Franklin, Massachusetts, which currently produces copper as well as some fiber-optic communications products. The Dayville plant employs approximately 30 associates.

Corning fiber picked in Indonesia June 15, 2005 Corning, NY and Jakarta, Indonesia -- Kabelvision , an Indonesian cable TV and data services provider and part of Indonesia's PT Broadband Multimedia Tbk, announced today that it will deploy Corning's NexCor singlemode fiber in the latest expansion of the provider's hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network. PT Communication Cable Systems Indonesia will provide the cable for the project.
FiberNet extends integrated co-location services to KPN June 14, 2005 New York, NY -- FiberNet Telecom Group, a provider of metro data services, has been selected by KPN, the Netherlands' largest telecom company, to distribute KPN's traffic to its destination partners in the U.S. According to a press release, KPN will cross-connect with leading carriers through a customized, virtual presence at FiberNet's 60 Hudson Street "Meet-Me-Room," an integrated co-location facility.
Hammerhead picks Ample MAC device for metro Ethernet aggregation June 14, 2005 Fremont, CA -- Hammerhead Systems has deployed Ample Communications' Harrier MAC device within the Hammerhead HSX 6000 Layer 2.5 aggregation platform. Hammerhead says it picked the device because of its large amount of on-chip packet RAM, which can support up to 20 km of fiber length, a critical factor in Ethernet aggregation applications.
