Cisco platform picked for Bangkok metro network upgrade
June 13, 2005 Bangkok, Thailand -- TOT Corp., formerly known as the Telephone Organization of Thailand, has upgraded its core network for the Bangkok metropolitan area using a system built on Cisco's ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP). The operator says the platform allows it to increase network capacity from 1-Gbit/sec to 320-Gbit/sec without requiring further hardware replacements or additional optical fiber deployments.

OFS files patent infringement suit against Yangtze Optical Fibre Company
June 13, 2005 Norcross, GA -- OFS announced today that it has commenced federal litigation against Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Company (YOFC), alleging that the China-based company infringes at least four U.S. patents related to singlemode and multimode optical fiber and processes for making optical fiber.

FDNY taps CirTran's Racore
June 13, 2005 Salt Lake City, UT -- Racore Technology, a subsidiary of CirTran, has received an order from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) for Racore's M8190A fiber-optic Fast Ethernet network adapters and Volition patch cords. The order was processed through Racore's new value-added reseller (VAR), U.S. Information Systems (USIS) of Nyack, NY. The order had a retail value of approximately $9,000, according to a press release.

Mpower Communications acquires Las Vegas fiber network
June 10, 2005 Las Vegas, NV -- Mpower Communications, an operating subsidiary of Mpower Holding Corp., a provider of data and voice services to retail and wholesale business customers, has announced that it is expanding its facilities-based network with the acquisition of a metro fiber network in Las Vegas from Idacomm, the communications subsidiary of Idacorp.

Kingston Communications picks Terawave FTTP
June 9, 2005 Hayward, CA --Terawave has secured a contract to supply UK-based Kingston Communications with Terawave's FTTP multiservice converged broadband access platform, to facilitate the delivery of advanced services for Kingston's customers in Lincs, UK.

Motorola FTTP lands in West Virginia
June 9, 2005 Chicago, IL -- Motorola is providing its optical access platform in an FTTP deployment for the city of Philippi, West Virginia. The company selected Cable Constructors, Inc. (CCI) as its partner in the deployment. The system is expected to be operational this summer.

Corning and Lightwave magazine recognize James Hettrick for excellence in FTTx deployment
June 9, 2005 Corning, NY -- Corning and Lightwave magazine announced that James Hettrick, of the City of Loma Linda, California, is the winner of the second annual FTTXcellence award. The award honors an individual for his or her contributions to the deployment of optical access networks in North America over the last year.

Korea's DACOM selects ECI's optical equipment for backbone, metro networks
June 8, 2005 Petah Tikva, Israel -- Korea's DACOM has deployed and launched ECI Telecom's XDM multi-service provisioning platform to enable the service provider's backbone and metro networks. According to a press release, the contract is valued at $3.6 million for the first deployment, with an option for expansion over the next few years. The deployed DWDM network spans all of Korea, supplying customers with the necessary capacity for next-generation services, according to the release.

Metconnex closes $5.8M financing round
June 8, 2005 Chicago, IL -- Metconnex, a supplier of wavelength selective switch (WSS) modules for use in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs), today announced the closing of a $5.8 million (CDN $7.5M) equity and operating capital financing round. The company says the investment will enable it to deepen its relationships with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers, continue to grow its marketing and sales team, and further expand its WSS portfolio.

Ciena WDM platform boosts T-Online's optical backbone capacity
June 8, 2005 Linthicum, MD -- Ciena today announced that T-Online, part of Deutsche Telekom, has selected the company's optical transport platform as part of the operator's comprehensive program to expand its network infrastructure across France. Under the agreement, T-Online will deploy Ciena's CoreStream Agility platform to deliver additional network capacity and enhanced performance to its Club Internet customers.
