Net Insight contracted for Danish DTT network
May 20, 2005 Stockholm, Sweden -- Broadcast Service Danmark (BSD) has contracted Net Insight for the construction of a nationally-sponsored digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network in Denmark. According to a press release, with an order value above SEK 10 million, the network will employ the company's Nimbra platform, and will reach every household in the country. The equipment will be delivered during Q2 of 2005.

ADC FTTX platform picked in rural MN
May 19, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Windom, Minnesota recently unveiled its $8.6 million "Windomnet" broadband network, which is supported by ADC's OmniReach FTTX infrastructure platform. The city says it now offers its residents, businesses, and schools the state's first municipally-owned fiber-optic network.

Report: DWDM metro drives growth in optical transport market
May 19, 2005 Redwood City, CA -- The total optical transport equipment market grew 18% over a period of a year ago, with the most significant growth occurring in the DWDM metro segment, says a report from the Dell'Oro Group. According to the report, DWDM metro revenue grew 56% compared to a year ago, and 4% sequentially, with 10-Gbit/sec port shipments seeing exceptional growth, at 30% sequentially.

BellSouth fiber links FL health care system
May 19, 2005 Atlanta, GA -- BellSouth announced that it is providing 600 miles of fiber infrastructure to link the medical facilities of Baptist Health, a health care system based in Jacksonville, Florida, across a five-county area spanning northeast Florida and southern Georgia.

Seikoh Giken acquires Seiko fiber-optics
May 19, 2005 Chiba, Japan -- Seikoh Giken (SG) has acquired the optical fiber business of Seiko Instruments (SI). The transaction is expected to be completed by September 1, 2005, through application for approval by related countries. The acquisition of Seiko's manufacturing facility in China is scheduled for completion by the middle of January 2006.

Norlight Telecommunications plans central Illinois fiber expansion
May 18, 2005 Milwaukee, WI -- Norlight Telecommunications has announced that it is expanding its 3,800-mile network by activating optical fibers along the central Illinois corridor, in order to improve telecommunications access and reliability for its wholesale customers.

FONS' FTTP picked in Iowa
May 18, 2005 Marlborough, MA -- Fiber Optic Network Solutions (FONS), a provider of optical connectivity products, announced today that Mahaska Communications Group (MCG), an Iowa-based service provider, has selected the FONS Pathways outside plant platform for the implementation of the provider's "Fiber to the World" network, which will deliver FTTP services to the college community of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

LMC picks Turin's Traverse platform
May 18, 2005 Petaluma, CA and New York, NY -- Last Mile Connections (LMC) announced that it has selected Turin Networks' Traverse multiservice transport switch to provide the foundation for its LMC Centers, in support of its nationwide LMC Exchange.

Mahi picks Ample Communications for Ethernet-over-SONET
May 18, 2005 Fremont, CA -- Ample Communications, a provider of communications silicon for wireline network systems, today announced that Mahi Networks, a supplier of optical transport, switching, and aggregation platforms, has chosen Ample's Harrier-24 triple speed Ethernet MAC. According to a press release, Mahi will use the device for its Ethernet-over-SONET applications with enhanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality.

Photop, Primanex team up
May 17, 2005 Fuzhou, China -- Photop Technologies, a developer of integrated laser, photonics, and fiber-optic products, today announced that it has teamed up with Primanex, a provider of components and modules for the optical communications industry. Photop says the move will allow it to leverage its volume production platform for magnetic-optical products.
