Avanex launches compact 1x4 optical switch based on multi-port technology
March 23, 2006 Fremont, CA -- Avanex, a provider of photonic devices for optical networks, has released its 1x4 Optical Switch platform, which features a "single stage micro-optic switch design" based on the company's patented multi-port technology. The company says the platform enables 4-port optical switching in a compact form factor.

Revamped Fujitsu access platform adds hybrid C/DWDM, SFP/XFP, GbE muxing capabilities
March 22, 2006 Las Vegas, NV -- Fujitsu Network Communications has announced a "significant" new release of its Flashwave 7420 wavelength access platform. The WDM system now incorporates a new optical layer design and a hybrid implementation of both static and dynamic photonic components that the company says will allow carriers to lower the cost of deployment of broadband optical services over "a shared, survivable access infrastructure."

BTI Photonics rolls out Netstender 2060 WDM platform, aimed at metro edge

Entrisphere unveils GPON ONT/ONUs aimed at FTTX, MTU/MDUs

Tellabs launches 'business services' ONT portfolio
March 22, 2005 Naperville, IL -- Tellabs says its newly launched 1600 Series optical network terminals (ONTs) can deliver "significant benefits" to broadband services providers and their business customers. Compact optical access platform targets enterprise CPE apps
March 21, 2006 Petah Tikva, Israel -- ECI Telecom's BroadGate-20 (BG-20) devices comprise a miniature optical service access platform designed to function as customer premises equipment (CPE) for enterprises, utility companies, and cellular operators. The company says the platform's Layer 1 and Layer 2 Ethernet capabilities provide a migration path to carrier-class data services.

10G InGaAs photodiode targets long reach systems
