Global packet transport gear sales grow in 2Q06
August 14, 2006 London, UK -- Ovum-RHK today posted its analysis of global second quarter 2006 service provider packet transport equipment sales. The market in 2Q06 grew to $2.2 billion overall, 6 percent over last quarter and 11 percent above one year ago.

Report forecasts slower growth for optical transport equipment market
August 14, 2006 Redwood City, CA -- In a newly released report, Dell'Oro Group forecasts the worldwide optical transport equipment market to continue growing-- albeit at slower rates. According to the report, the optical transport market will reach almost $10 billion from 2008 to 2010, with varying growth patterns of regional markets contributing to the overall market performance.

Windstream Supply selects ADC OmniReach FTTx portfolio

Ovum-RHK: U.S. now second in FTTH subscribers
August 9, 2006 Boston, MA -- Ovum-RHK has released its U.S. fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) subscribers numbers (PON and active Ethernet) for the second quarter of 2006. FTTH subscribers increased by 34 percent to 463,000 FTTH subscribers in 2Q06, largely driven by activities associated with Verizon's FiOS initiative.

Zarlink and BroadLight team for packet processing over GPON
August 9 Ottawa, Canada -- Zarlink Semiconductor has completed interoperability testing of its CESoP (circuit emulation services-over-packet) technology with BroadLight, a vendor of PON chips, transceivers, and software. Using the companies' combined technologies, service providers can deploy GPON access networks that support "triple play" voice, video, and data applications and T1/E1 voice, leased line and frame relay services.

Southern Cross turns to Nortel
August 9, 2006 Toronto, Canada -- Southern Cross Cables hopes to significantly increase the capability of its U.S. terrestrial optical network with the addition of Nortel optical equipment. Nortel will supply, deploy, and maintain the optical systems on the U.S. West Coast as part of Southern Cross's 30,500-km submarine cable network that acts as the major link for broadband services and Internet traffic from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii to the U.S.
