Connexion Technologies taps Allied Telesyn for active Ethernet-based FTTP
June 1, 2006 San Jose, CA -- Connexion Technologies, formerly Capitol Infrastructure, has selected Allied Telesyn's IP triple-play equipment to provide Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) communications to its subscribers. The first deployment will take place in a 400-unit condominium high-rise complex scheduled for completion this summer. Connexion Technologies estimates as many as 200,000 new subscribers may be added to its subscriber base as a result of the new Ethernet/IP technology.

FiberTech provides 120-mi fiber network for NY court system
May 31, 2006 Rochester, NY -- The New York State Unified Court System (UCS) in Albany, NY, has upgraded its communications infrastructure by leasing a high-speed, optical solution from Fibertech Networks, provider of fiber-optic based network services in mid-size U.S. cities.

Optical network hardware revenue drops 12% in 1Q06, reveals report
May 31, 2006 Campbell, CA --Worldwide optical network hardware revenue dropped 12% to $2.6 billion between the fourth quarter of 2005 and the first quarter of 2006. According to Infonetics Research's quarterly Optical Network Hardware report, the difference was a direct result of a 43% revenue decline registered by market leader Alcatel.

Zhone joins BroadLight GPON customer list

May 30, 2006 Madrid, Spain -- Spanish telecommunications provider TeleCable is supplying Cajastur, a large regional savings bank in Spain, with Nortel technology and services to securely connect its 100 bank offices across three major cities in the Asturias region.

National LambdaRail selects Calient Networks for backbone switches
May 30, 2006 San Jose, CA -- Calient Networks announced that National LambdaRail (NLR), the provider of infrastructure for research and experimentation in networking technologies and applications in the U.S., has signed a multi-year supply contract to deploy Calient's DiamondWave PXC in key locations across the U.S. NLR also has signed a partnership and reseller agreement with Calient for the sale of the PXC to NLR members, including Regional Optical Networks (RONs).

Rostelecom launches fiber-optic line between Russia and China
May 25, 2006 Moscow -- Rostelecom, Russia's national long-distance telecommunications operator, has launched a new fiber-optic line from the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk to the city of Heihe in Heilongjiang province, China.

NEC tapped for submarine network linking Maldives and Sri Lanka
May 25, 2006 Tokyo -- Dhiraagu (Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun Private Limited), the largest telecom carrier in the Maldives, and Sri Lanka Telecom have tapped NEC Corp. to provide an optical submarine cable system. The contract is valued at $22.7 million.

Optical Ethernet components to net $2.7 billion by 2011, says report
May 25, 2006 Charlottesville, VA -- In a new report to be released June 5, industry analyst firm CIR forecasts that the optical Ethernet components market will net $2.7 billion in revenues by 2011. Copper-based transceivers, meanwhile, will achieve revenues of $4.7 billion over the same period.
