Tularosa Basin Telephone replacing copper with FTTP and FTTN
July 12, 2006 Santa Barbara, CA -- Tularosa Basin Telephone Co. Inc. (TBTC) has selected the BLC 6000 System from Occam Networks Inc. to upgrade its outside plant facilities with fiber to the premises (FTTP) and fiber to the node (FTTN). The new active Ethernet fiber network will enable TBTC to provide all of its subscribers with a full range of triple-play services with up to 1 Gbit/sec of bandwidth.

Fiberdata AB receives GPON order
July 6, 2006 Stockholm -- Swedish communications equipment provider Fiberdata AB today announced that its subsidiary, Fiberdata Integration AB, has received a new order for a high-speed broadband system based on Gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) technology.

July 5, 2006 Montreal -- Bell Canada today announced the introduction of Sympatico Optimax, a high-speed Internet service for consumers that leverages the latest in fiber-optic technology. The service offers an Internet connection that will deliver fast maximum speeds of 10 or 16 Mbit/sec, say company representatives. Sympatico Optimax rolls out in Montreal starting today.

Calix selects Ikanos' VDSL2 chipset
June 28, 2006 Fremont, CA -- Calix has selected Ikanos Communications as the VDSL2 chipset provider to power its E-series IP Service Edge Node (SEN). Ikanos offers what it claims are very high-density, low-power chipsets for multi-mode applications, which are designed to enable Calix to offer cost-effective, high-bandwidth VDSL2 and ADSL2+ services in fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) applications.

AT&T to build FTTP network in Houston area
June 21, 2006 San Antonio, TX -- AT&T Inc. announced an agreement with General Growth Properties to build a fiber-to-the- premises (FTTP) network to deliver the AT&T U-verse suite of services -- which includes integrated digital TV, high-speed Internet, and voice services -- to a 20,000-home master-planned community near Houston.

Wave7 Optics explains 'idle-code mitigation' technology
June 19, 2006 Atlanta -- Wave7 Optics today introduced its patent-pending "idle-code mitigation" technology, which enables the delivery of RF video services via EPON and GPON systems. Without idle-code mitigation, the effects of Stimulated Raman Scattering on the 1490-nm wavelength cause interference on the 1550-nm video transmission wavelength, explains Jim Farmer, CTO of Wave7.
