New Products 2007 P8

Opnext adds a second form factor to LRM group SEPTEMBER 14, 2007 Opnext Inc. released a XENPAK module for its 10-G LRM optical pluggable module family. The modules are said to have low power consumption, improved transmission characteristics, and high-temperature performance.
Avanex expands tunable platforms for 40 Gbit/sec. SEPTEMBER 14, 2007 Avanex Corporation added to its tunable dispersion compensator (TDC) and amplification platforms for 40-Gbit/sec. terminal equipment, releasing the PowerShaper 3300 and 3400 platforms. The products will debut at ECOC, September 1719 in Berlin, Booth 15100.
Oncore launches fiber-optic network cable line SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 Oncore Power Systems, of Newport Beach, CA, began producing a line of fiber-optic network cables and cable assemblies. The assemblies can be purchased in 10-Gbit laser-optimized or standard 50-µm multi-mode, 62.5/125 multi-mode, single-mode, and mode-conditioning cables.
Hot-swappable 10-Gbit/sec. transceiver meets DWDM needs SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 Mitsubishi Electric released a compact, pluggable 10-Gbit/sec. optical communications transceiver, MF-10KWXF, that suits discretionary tuning for all C-band dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). The hot-swappable transceiver lowers power consumption by 40% from previous generations.
Finisar develops Fabry-Perot-based TOSA, ROSA SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 Finisar Corporation of Sunnyvale, CA, introduced transmitter and receiver optical subassembly pairs (TOSA/ROSA) based on Fabry-Perot lasers and PIN detectors. The TOSA/ROSA family meets the IEEE 10-G BASE-LRM standard and will debut at ECOC, Booth 17048.
TOSA expands Bookham's discrete optics offering SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 At ECOC 2007, September 1719 in Berlin, Bookham, Inc., will launch an MSA-compatible 2.5-Gbit/sec. transmit optical subassembly (TOSA), expanding its existing portfolio of discrete optics. The TOSA will debut at Booth 17049.
Sumitomo adds 24-fiber bundle for FutureFLEX systems SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 Sumitomo Electric Lightwave introduced a 24-fiber bundle for its FutureFLEX air-blown fiber infrastructure line. Using the 24-fiber bundle can increase fiber capacity in each pathway by 33%. Sumitomo cites emerging high-bandwidth services, such as voice over IP (VoIP), as impetus for adding air-blown fiber.
Y-Connect offers high-density LC adapters, can double connection densities SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 Y-Connect launched a family of single- and multi-mode high-density LC adapters, available with proprietary modularized multi-port dust shutters. The products are compatible with T.I.A. FOCIS 10-B duplex and quad panel cutouts.
XLoom debuts multi-channel optical chip SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 By Meghan Fuller Implemented as an optical engine, the iFlame may be used in high-speed, high-density optical interconnect applications, replacing bulky copper interconnects that suffer from distance limitations.
Gennum drives 3-Gbits/sec. HD-SDI over optical SEPTEMBER 7, 2007 Gennum Corporation (Burlington, Canada) released its 3-Gbit/sec. optical modules at the International Broadcaster's Convention in Amsterdam, Booth 10.119. The dual transmitter, GO2922, and dual receiver, GO2920, meet the current Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 3-Gbits/sec. SDI standard.
