Zayo Group to acquire network assets from Citynet SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 -- The Citynet assets bring an additional 300 route miles of fiber to Zayo's core fiber network. Highlights of the assets include 58 route miles of metro fiber in Phoenix, Arizona; 131 route miles of metro fiber in Cincinnati, Ohio; and 83 route miles of metro fiber in Dallas, Texas. In addition, Zayo will acquire smaller metro area fiber networks in Chicago, San Antonio, and the tri-cities area in Tennessee.

StrataLight Communications, Avanex to test 100G optical networking SEPTEMBER 24, 2008 -- StrataLight says it will work with Avanex Corp. to demonstrate 100-Gbit/sec network traffic in a state-of-the-art network testbed. The testbed will be used to verify the propagation performance of StrataLight's 100-Gbit/sec transponder technology, with Avanex providing dispersion compensation modules and high-performance, gain-flattened optical amplifiers.
