USCarrier Telecom, Southern Light form interconnect partnership
JANUARY 28, 2008 -- The companies say this affiliation has the potential to tie together USCarrier's 3,400-route-mile high-capacity Southeastern fiber-optic network with Southern Light's 1,800-route-mile of fiber-optic backbone in four states along the Gulf Coast, as far west as Lafayette, LA.

Level 3 and BT collaborate in Central, Eastern Europe
JANUARY 24, 2008 -- Per the multi-year agreement, Level 3 will deliver wavelength services to BT within the Central and Eastern Europe region and more broadly through Europe. The agreement also enables Level 3 to further expand its fiber-based network, offering full services in the existing markets of Prague and Vienna while adding new points of presence in Budapest, Bratislava, and Ivancice.

Shanghai's Oriental Cable Network selects Cisco's ROADM technology
JANUARY 17, 2008 -- Shanghai's Oriental Cable Network Co. Ltd. has selected the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) and ROADM technology for its digital television optical transport platform. Oriental Cable covers the entire city of Shanghai, broadcasting more than 60 channels to more than 3 million viewers.
